This killer button is straight from my collection. Aside from a mildly tilted shank, it's perfect. One of the best there is. It was dug on private property in Stafford County, Virginia many years ago. The button has 90%+ gilt and a Civil War "Scovill" (between two rings of dots) backmark.
I paid a LOT to get this one but these are super-scarce. And even more so in this kind of museum-quality condition. You won't regret acquiring this little gem! Button is coat-size.
Maryland buttons are appropriate in either a Union or Confederate button collection as the Old Line State sent troops to both sides.
