Beautiful, green cover "Hymn Book for the Army and Navy" in excellent and complete condition.  The condition is not mint, but I can't recall ever seeing one that was absolutely mint.  This one is all there, with the original binding and no major tears or missing pages.  The front cover is very nice.  It has been subjected to some light water damage or humidity a very long time ago, but is still quite fine.

 

The hymnal is not signed or inscribed in any way.  I do like those and if you have any hymnals or prayer books for sale with presentations or inscriptions identifying a soldier or sailor, let me know!

 

Still, this one is priced right and would be the perfect addition to any display of a Civil War soldier or sailor's personal effects.  Imagine the comfort and encouragement a little book like this might provide to the soldier away from his home and his church...or for the Civil War sailor out to sea for days on end!

 

What makes this one particularly interesting is that it came from the Cincinnati branch of the the U.S. Christian Commission.  I can't recall ever seeing a Cincinnati-marked hymnal before.  I've seen New York and Chicago, but not Cincy.
