Civil War telegrams -- even Confederate ones -- are not the most desirable items, UNLESS there is superb content.
We have such a specimen here. This telegram is dated April 24th, 1864 and is from General George Pickett to General P.G.T. Beauregard. It was sent in the vicinity of Petersburg, Virginia. The content is as follows...
"Gen'l. PGT Beauregard...I will be down in the morning with two guns. I tried to telegraph you this morning, but line was closed. GE Picket, Maj Gen'l Comdg"
I have also scanned the back of the telegram, where the clerk docketed it. The condition of this approximated 8" by 4" document is excellent. There are a few holes along the folds but nothing that impedes the content. Such a historically important document is worth of archival preservation and framing.
I've been told content like this should bring about $350 to $400. But since I got an excellent price on this in a large, group purchase, I will offer exclusively it to my web site customers at the price you see below.
IF YOU WANT TO ORDER AN ITEM…
(or just ask a question about it) please email me directly at cwartifax@aol.com
Using the “Order Information” button right below the price USUALLY works, but not always. I don’t know why, but it could have to do with spam settings on either end. The easiest way to order or inquire about an item is simply to email me directly. Again, my email address is cwartifax@aol.com
Thanks!
